2003 INDUCTEES INTO THE LOUISIANA HALL OF FAME

______________________________________________________________________________________________
It is with mixed feelings that I must announce that as of March 31, 2012, we are retiring Burgundy.  On behalf of all the fantastic singers and musicians who have been a part of the Burgundy family for over 34 years, I would like to say thank you to the wonderful friends who have loyally supported us for those many years.  We have had the great pleasure to perform at literally thousands of events from weddings to Mardi Gras balls to corporate functions and everything in between.  To say that we have made hundreds and hundreds of friends during that time would be a major understatement.  To have lasted 34 years is something that would have been beyond our wildest dreams and expectations.

I have had the great honor and privilege to be Burgundy’s only band leader throughout its entire run.  As such, I would like to personally thank the following people for helping to make Burgundy so special to me, my family and to our many friends:

Our singers, Wanda Markase, Michelle Burris, Sharon Riolo and Wendy Siegel

Our guitar players, Tim Weller, Morgan Ory (in whose garage Burgundy was founded), Mike Campion, and Tom Scott

Our drummers, Brian Baker, Donny Burdett, Ronnie Arcement and Paul Garaudy

Our bass guitar players, Bill Jaquillard and Ed Ledet

Our trombone player and keyboardist, Larry Villalobos.

Our saxophone players, Bill Haden and Barry Lacour

Our trumpet players, Dan Roberts (who named us “Burgundy”), Chris Krueger, Jimmy Weber and Chuck Arnold

Our sound engineers, Wade Lambert, Eric Zeringue and Rich Siegel

Thank you all for your friendship and unique talents.  Burgundy could not have happened without the special contributions of all of you.

And, again, thank you to all our families and great friends who have supported Burgundy and made playing in our band a rewarding and unforgettable experience.  Without  your support and friendship, there could not have been a Burgundy.

Best wishes to all.

Sincerely,
Ray Markase
